UK ID Cards
The Case Against
UK ID Cards (Identity Cards) were scrapped in 1952 because of the tension they caused
between the public and the police. Now
Tony Blair wants to bring them back.
The main excuses for the ID Card scheme are public fear over terrorism
and illegal imigration. Two aspects of the "climate of fear" that this government has
carefully cultivated. Neither case stands up to logical analysis. The Government
is simply using public fear as an excuse to impose compulsory national ID Cards on the UK.
I am, have always been and will always remain totally opposed to compulsory ID Cards. The
arguments in favour of ID Cards don't stand up to scrutiny; the arguments against are
overwhelming.
On these pages you will find a outline of my position and the arguments against the
imposition of compulsory ID Cards on innocent British citizens.
